Foot Massage: A Great Reward For Working Hard

What kinds of rewards do you like to get? Perhaps a vacation with points you have accumulated on a credit card, recognition from the boss after months of work on a big project, or simply a tall, cold soda after mowing the lawn? It is nice to be rewarded for the hard work you do. While you may go for a whole body massage when you feel tired or tense, do you ever consider a foot massage for overworked feet?

Our feet work incredibly hard each and every day, but they dont often get proper attention or a reward for carrying us everywhere we want to go. Standing on your feet all day at work or your kids soccer game, or playing tourist and walking around attractions several days in a row can leave you with tired, aching feet. This is when a little TLC in the form of a foot massage can be really beneficial. It can ease lingering pain, reduce swelling, improve circulation and stimulate your muscles.

To start, wash your hands and sit in a comfortable spot. With one foot resting on the thigh of the other leg, rotate your foot at the ankle several times. Gently stretch your toes back and with the other hand tap your sole to get the circulation going. Press your thumbs into your sole and guide them up the center and then out to the side of the foot, creating a T shape. You can also use your thumbs to make circles in the sole as if you were kneading bread. Repeat everything on the other foot and use an oil or lotion so your fingers can glide smoothly on your feet. A product with peppermint is great for refreshing tired feet. This would be a great treat if your partner does it on you or you can go to place that specialize in foot massage.

There is so much more you can do for tired feet, but if you have constant pain, simple fatigue may not be the problem. Contact Houston Foot Specialists if you have concerns about your foot health.
